Rono Hills, May 22: A two-day workshop on ‘Effective Academic Writing’ began today at the Mini Auditorium of the Rajiv Gandhi University, Rono Hills here. The workshop of the G20-University Connect Hub Initiative was organised by the Department of Education, Rajiv Gandhi University in collaboration with Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), New Delhi and NETRA Foundation.
The inaugural function was graced by Prof. Saket Kushwaha, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University as the Chief Guest while Dr. N.T. Rikam, Registrar, Rajiv Gandhi University,Prof. T. Lhungdim, Dean, Faculty of Education and Sport Sciences, RGU, Prof. P.K. Acharya, Head, Dept. of Education, RGU, and Prof. Kesang Degi, Coordinator of the workshop shared the dais.
Addressing the function, Prof. Saket Khushwaha appreciated the efforts made by Prof. Kesang Degi for the G-20 University Connect Hub initiative in RGU which is among 53 Universities that are currently funded. Reflecting on the essential elements of thesis specifically on outcomes of research, he exemplified various types of research in different streams. The Vice Chancellor also observed that every researcher should be well acquainted with research design in regard to cross-sectional and time-series researches. Stating that researcher should know all the dynamics of research, he shared his experience of using punch cards in research process during his tenure in Africa. He emphasized on the importance of availing the first opportunity and stated that learning to learn is the core element for development. The researcher should take time to do research in better way, he stated. Recollecting the outcome of G-20 as inclusion of African Union in G-20 in 2023, he observed that G-21 is a landmark in the history of the nations. He also opined that researchers and educators should have a diploma or degree in journalism and education as well. 
Addressing the gathering, Prof. T. Lhungdim, Dean, Faculty of Education and Sport Sciences, RGU, appreciated the organizing team of the workshop for their valuable endeavors and added that the workshop was important for all the research scholars for writing qualitative research articles. 
Speaking at the function, Dr. N.T. Rikam, Registrar, RGU, stated that the workshop would be beneficial specifically for research scholars. It is fortunate for the Rajiv Gandhi university to be one of the Universities among the 21 Universities which are associated with G-20 University Connect Hub Initiative, he observed. He also appreciated the Dept. of Education for the activities taken in the light of G-20 university Connect Hub Initiative
The workshop which will conclude on May 23 next has six resource persons including Prof.J.V.Madhusudan, Dr.Shankar Thappa, and Prof. C.Sivashankar. More than 150 research scholars and teachers from RGU-affiliated colleges, Rajiv Gandhi University and colleges in Assam participated in the workshop.
