PASIGHAT, Jul 1: A couple running a jewellery shop in Pasighat and accused of duping several people was traced in New Delhi and arrested by the East Siang Police within 24 hours of registering of a case. 
The incident came to light when a written FIR was received on June 27 last by a Pasighat resident Yongge Tamut who claimed that she had given a sum of `42000 to one Rajan Kalikoty and his wife Saritra Sonar as advance money for jewellery. However after 25 days, on the date of delivery, the couple kept ignoring calls and was missing from their rented house. When the complainant made enquiries in the market area, it was revealed that the said couple had borrowed money from several people as well and had failed to return. Three of the victims appeared before the police to give their testimony.
Accordingly a police team comprising of SI Kodak Dagium and others under the supervision of the SP Dr. Sachin Singhal tracked down the location of the accused duo. The couple were apprehended from the rented house of the elder sister of Saritra Sonar with the help of Delhi Police and were brought back to Pasighat Police Station on June 29 last and formally arrested.
