Itanagar, Jul 3: Drinking water supply to Itanagar township is likely to be disrupted for at least a week as the main water pipeline has been damaged in landslide on Tuesday night due to torrential rainfall.
The main water supply line of 400 & 200 mm dia feeding drinking water supply to Itanagar township has been dislodged due to landslide in between Zoo road and Ganga Lake on the night of July 2, thereby disrupting the water supply catering 11MLD of water to the Itanagar Township. Men and machineries has been deployed for early restoration, however it will take a week’s time to restore the water supply lines.
The PHE & WS department in a statement said that water tanker and requisition of private pickup vehicles will be pressed in to services where ever required in the C-sector, C-I & C-II, upper ESS, Gandhi Market, Bank Tinali, D-sector, RWD Colony, E-sector, F-sector, Abotani colony E-extension, Narba, Hiltop, Dokum, Nyokum Lapang, Jully-2, Zero Point, 6-Mile, A 7 B Sector, Birup, Chandranagar, Lapang Hati, Seke colony, etc. have been badly affected.
