ITANAGAR, Jun8: In a bold and defiant statement, Kumar Waii, the lone Congress MLA from Bameng assembly constituency and former Home Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, has stated that no force can silence his voice in the Legislative Assembly to raise issues of his people.
Waii, who has been a vocal critic of the ruling BJP, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people of Bameng constituency for their unwavering support and resistance to monetary influences during the elections.
Speaking to the media at Rajiv Bhawan today, Waii stated “BJP wants to eradicate Congress and win elections by using muscle and money power.”  However, despite these tactics, he praised the electorate of Bameng for their integrity and for standing firm against such influences.
Reflecting on his role as the lone Congress MLA in the state, Waii emphasized his commitment to the development of his constituency and the state. He insisted that developmental funds, which are essential for the progress of the region, should be disbursed by the state government without any political bias. "If not, then no one can stop my voice in the Assembly," he warned, underscoring his determination to fight for the rights and needs of his constituents.
He also addressed the broader political climate, urging the Chief Minister to view all MLAs, whether from the ruling party or the opposition, with equal regard. "The CM should not see other MLAs with ruling or opposition lenses," he urged, calling for a more inclusive and fair approach to governance.
Despite being the sole Congress representative in the Assembly, Waii remains optimistic about the future of his party. "I am the lone Congress MLA today, but I have a firm belief that in the coming election in 2029, we will be in the majority," he stated.
"In Arunachal Pradesh, the BJP government used money to buy votes, but failed to give good governance," he alleged.
