ITANAGAR, Jun 3:

The All Arunachal Pradesh Shaskar Bharat Mission Employee Association has demanded the government to clear pending salary and honorarium of last 2 years of all SBM staffers serving in 15 districts.

Addressing a press conference this afternoon at press club, AAPSBMES, president, Tajub Kampong said that due to non release of honorarium and salaries, the staffers are on the verge of starvation and unable to provide basic needs to their families.

Also demanding regularization of those teachers who have completed their 8 years of satisfactory service, Kampong pointed out that SBM staff has been playing a key role in educating illiterates and dropouts in far flung areas of the state.

However the government is not giving the needed attention and status to SBM employees and repeatedly ignoring their proficiency thereby hurting the sentiments of more than 6000 SBM employees, who have left no stone unturned to raise the standard of education in remote and difficult areas, Kampong added.

“We the SBM employees appreciate the bold move taken by government in giving privileges to the SSA teachers like enhancement of salaries at par with 7th Pay Commission. On the other hand, we also want to raise question on the negligence and step motherly attitude meted towards the SBM employees, who are also rendering equal service to the development of education sector,” rued Kampong.

He further also highlighted their other demands, which includes strict implementation of equivalency programme in all 1713 gram panchayats and continuation of service of SBM employees, enhancement of honorarium etc.

Kampung resented that despite submission of several memorandums to director, education department as well as government only assurances were received so far and there is no sign of any fruitful action from the administrative side.

It’s a pity that for the last 2 years we are struggling to get salary on time despite working round the clock efficiently and honestly”, he observed requesting the government to clear the outstanding dues and announce a  policy for regularization of all the SBM employees.

The association further served an ultimatum of 7 days to the government to fulfill their demands, failing which it threatened to launch a state wide dharna against the government.
