Khonsa, Aug 26 : In a significant development, a joint team of Assam Rifles, Arunachal Pradesh Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) successfully apprehended four individuals and recovered suspected contraband substances during an intelligence-based operation in Tirap district on Tuesday.
Acting on credible information regarding the movement of suspected drug peddlers in a car towards Namsangmukh town, a joint operation was launched in the general area of Deomali Gate. A naka/mobile vehicle check post (MVCP) was established by the security forces to intercept the suspected vehicle.
At approximately 6:15 PM, the vehicle arrived at the naka point and was promptly intercepted. The four occupants of the vehicle were identified as Kaling Mibang, Mibom Tayeng, Tajen Pame, and Bai Kambu.
During the search operation, suspected contraband substances weighing approximately 47.8 grams were recovered from the possession of Mibom Tayeng. Additionally, a plastic container containing traces of an orange-coloured powdery substance suspected to be a narcotic drug, along with syringes and other incriminating materials, was recovered from Bai Kambu.
Further search led to the seizure of mobile phones, cash amounting to ₹19,590, one US dollar, and other relevant articles. The vehicle used in the transportation of the suspected contraband was also seized.
The apprehended individuals along with the recovered items were handed over to Deomali Police Station at around 8:30 PM for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings.
