PASIGHAT, Oct 17: As part of its ongoing Youth Engagement Programme, East Siang Police organised a workshop on “Crime Scene Management and Usage of Mobile Forensic Van” at the Rashtriya Raksha University campus on October 15.
The workshop was conducted by Neepa Manocha, SDPO Pasighat, along with L/Insp Amum Panyang, OC Pasighat, and SI Kuncha Tangha.
The workshop aimed to familiarise students with the practical aspects of crime scene management and the application of forensic science in criminal investigations. It featured demonstrations on crime scene reconstruction, collection and testing of blood samples, identification and testing of various narcotic substances, and fingerprint development techniques.
The demonstrations provided students with valuable insights into the functioning and utility of the Mobile Forensic Van in facilitating on-site forensic examination and supporting scientific, evidence-based investigations. The session also highlighted the importance of preserving crime scenes and ensuring the proper collection and handling of forensic evidence.
Commenting on the initiative, SP Pankaj Lamba, stated that East Siang Police remains committed to promoting scientific investigation and strengthening youth engagement through meaningful interactions with educational institutions. He emphasised that such initiatives provide students with practical exposure to modern policing techniques, foster scientific awareness, and encourage young minds to understand the role of forensic science in crime detection and the administration of justice.
Through its Youth Engagement Programme, East Siang Police continues to strengthen police–student interaction, promote awareness of contemporary policing practices, and encourage constructive engagement with young people to build trust and foster a better understanding of the role of police in society. Under the initiative, to date, more than 1,500 students have visited various police stations across the district, gaining firsthand exposure to police functioning, law enforcement procedures, crime prevention, and the day-to-day responsibilities of police personnel. These interactions aim to bridge the gap between the police and youth, promote awareness, and inspire young people to become responsible and informed citizens.
