Daporijo, Aug 26: A civil defence blackout mock drill was conducted by the District Administration, Upper Subansiri, at Daporijo to strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response mechanisms on Tuesday. The district witnessed complete blackout from 08:00 pm to 08:15 pm.
The drill simulated air raid and bomb blast scenarios at two separate incident sites in Daporijo, involving evacuation, search and rescue, first aid, casualty management and emergency response.
The exercise also witnessed active participation from the public, who observed a blackout by switching off emergency and inverter lights, demonstrating community preparedness and cooperation during an emergency situation.
Various line departments, police, Fire & Emergency Services, medical teams, Yuva aapda mitras, NCC cadets and other stakeholders participated in the drill, which helped assess preparedness, coordination and the roles and responsibilities of the Incident Response Team (IRT).
