ITANAGAR, May 10:Student Union Movement of All Arunachal (SUMAA) has alleged illegal recruitment and appointments of some management staff in the department of Panchayati Raj and demanded the state government to immediately terminate the Secretary and Director of the department for their involvement in the whole process.

Armed with RTI documents, General Secretary, SUMAA Suraj Ligu while addressing a press conference this afternoon at Press Club, said that on January 2014 last, the Panchayati Raj department has invited APST candidates to fill up the vacant 177 posts of Panchayat Technical Assistant (JE) and others.

‘However in the recruitment process which was held under the active supervision of Secretary and Director (PR) has illegally recruited a total of 183 candidates against the 177 post that too by appointing scores of Non- APST candidates from other states illegally, despite recruitment only limited for APST candidates, thereby  violating the laid norms of recruitment rules (RR),’ informed Ligu alleging that the concern department has also never advertised the 177 vacant post in print media etc and has recruited covertly all the candidates.

‘The recruitment was also done covertly without due advertisement carried out in print media or any other public platform. When we asked the concern department through RTI in which paper the advertisement for vacant posts were advertised, they failed to provide any information  on the matter too, which is a clear case of misconduct,’ alleged Ligu asserting that such lackadaisical response from the concern is clearly indicative that there is some irregularities in the mass recruitment.

Accusing both officials for allegedly misusing their position for self interest, the union said that they had approached Chief Secretary (CS)   and submitted a memorandum (complaint letter) against the two officials of Panchayati Raj Department. The union said the CS assured to look into the matter.

Further the union demanded the state government to immediately relieve both officials from their duties and initiate an inquiry against them within 30 days period of time.

Once the deadline lapses, the union said they would intensify strikes and protests if the government fails to initiate any action against the officials and would launch a democratic movement.
