ITANAGAR, Oct 2:On the occasion of 148th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein participated in a Mega Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at Karsingsa today.

Speaking on the occasion, Rijiju said that the strength of Arunachal Pradesh lies in ‘unity in diversity’. He called upon the people to unite and work together for the common cause that is peace, progress and development of the State. ‘We should not allow cheap politics to weaken our strength and discourage playing politics in the name of community and religion,’ he said while asserting that he is doing every possible effort to highlight the cause of the State in Parliament and in the eyes of the Union Government.

No stone will be left unturned to pursue the matter of state’s interest at the Centre, he said while informing that there is not a single scheme pending with the Union Government that was proposed by the State Government at present.

He lauded the State Govt headed by the Chief Minister Pema Khandu in its effort to ensure rapid implementation of developmental works in the state by conducting monthly review meeting with the ministers and departments, strict monitoring of the schemes implementation and the steps taken to check corruption in the State.

Responding to the memorandum submitted by the Organizing Committee, Rijiju assured that he will pursue for the immediate sanctioning of the remaining Package - B & C of Four-laning of NH-415 from Pappu-Nallah to Banderdewa within this financial year. He also assured to look into construction of Indoor Stadium cum Multi-purpose community hall at Karsingsa, link road from NH-415 to Anya Colony-II and to initiate the process for setting up of Fire Station at Banderdewa Circle.

Mein in his speech appealed to the people to adopt the virtues of Mahatma Gandhi and follow the path of peace, truth and non-violence. He said that sweeping in the name of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan should not be taken symbolically but called upon the people to inculcate civic sense and make cleanliness a daily routine and urged them to keep the pledge to Clean India in earnest and with conviction and to take in a mission mode.  He also added that cleanliness is very pertinent in tourism point of view to create a hygienic and ambient atmosphere for the tourists. 

Minister of UD & Town Planning, Nabam Rebia, Tapir Gao, State BJP President, Prince Dhawan, DC Capital, Tai Kaye, DC Papumpare and Dr Navdeep S Brar, SP Capital were also present among others.

The dignitaries also planted forest saplings in the campus of Govt Middle School, Karsingsa and participated in the cleanliness drive.

Earlier in the morning, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju and Deputy Chief Minister, Chowna Mein pay homage and garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Park, Niti Vihar in Itanagar. They also gave away meritorious certificate to the sincere and hard working staffs of the Itanagar Municipal Council on the occasion.

Also commemorating Gandhi Jayanti, the Itanagar Market Welfare Association,( IMWA) on Mondayorganized a  mass cleanliness drive here at Ganga market, which was voluntarily participated by shop keepers, entrepreneurs, businessmen and common public.

Leading the drive, IMWA president, Yumlam Achung highlighted the importance of maintaining a clean and hygienic surroundings to the participants.

Stating that surrounding reflects our personality, Achung said that unhygienic lifestyle and improper garbage disposal in public areas can cause many serious diseases and appealed all to join hands together to keep the city green and healthy.

Earlier the IMWA also celebrated Durga Puja in a grand manner at Ganga, which ended with colorful cultural events recently.

Elsewhere, along with the rest of the nation, Bomdila celebrated the Gandhi Jayanti in a befitting manner this morning at school auditorium.

Among all the institutions and establishments under Bomdila Township, the department of UD& Housing Bomdila identified Gontse Gaden Rabgyeling Monastery, Upper Gompa, as the cleanest institution and was awarded with a meritorious certificate under Swachhta He Seva campaign by the Deputy Commissioner today.

The winners of the essay and drawing competition conducted by the department of PHED&WS Bomdila for the students of the district were also felicitated on the occasion.

Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated in Tezu by paying floral tribute and garlanding ofsStatue of Mahatma Gandhi by Lohit District Deputy Commissioner Karma Leki at Gandhi Chowk, here today. He was joined by SDO Kajal Karmakar, HoDs, Bazaar Committee members and students.

The celebration also marked the end of Swachta Hi Seva fortnight in the district which was a huge success following participation from not only Government employees but also from every quarter of Society during cleanliness drive and mass social services organised in different locations during the fortnight.

At Mechuka, Gandhi Jayanti was observed at Government Primary School, Mechuka on Monday.

Attending the programme as chief guest, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Mechuka Tungge Loya called upon the public to follow the principles of Gandhiji.

Narrating the work of Gandhiji towards cleanliness, Loya exhorted the people especially students to come forward and work for Green and Clean Mechuka.  ADC appointed 10 volunteers to keep vigil on the progress of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ in the picturesque town.

Meanwhile, as part of the programme, the Department of PHE &WS Mechuka organized an essay writing competition on the topic ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.

Later the participants pledged to keep the picturesque town clean and green. 

Officers and staffers of District administration, Yupia  conducted mass social service " Swachchata Hi Seva" with rest of the country at District headquarters Yupia today.Gandhi Jayanti was also observed in a befitting manner at Govt Secondary School, Kakoi and mass cleanliness drive was conducted under the leadership of CO Kakoi.

 

At Ziro, the Lower Subanasiri District unit BJP in collaboration with department of Forest organized a mass tree plantation this morning here at Govt. Hr Sec School, Ziro. 
Er. Tage Taki, MLA cum Parliamentary Secretary also joined the plantation programme.
Later, led by Er. Tage Taki, MLA and Tilling Dolley, president, Lower Subanasiri District unit BJP participated in garlanding Gandhiji's portrait and prayer programme organized by State's lone Kastruba Gandhi Seva Kendra, Hong (Hanoko). 

The day was also befittingly observed at Roing by the District Administration in collaboration with DUDA.

On the occasion, Lower Dibang Valley Deputy Commissioner, Deepak Shinde distributed the prizes and certificates to the winners of Essay and Painting competition held under the fortnight programme “Swachta Hi Seva”. He also distributed Dustbins to all the school heads of the district. 

Paying Homage to the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi Rashriya Swachhta Diwas day was observed at Gumin Kin Hall, Aalo organised by nodal agency District Swachh Bharat Mission Department of PHED, Aalo.
