RONO HILLS, Mar 3:

The 3rd Rono Hills Futsal Premier League-2018 got underway at Rajiv Gandhi University on Friday. Futsal, the official smaller and modified version of football event of FIFA demands more active and quick skills in a smaller ground wherein two teams clash with five players each is entertaining.

Speaking at the inaugural as chief guest, Joint Registrar of RGU Dr. David Pertin emphasized on the importance of healthy living and need of fitness and encouraged the gathering to imbibe more discipline in one’s conduct and way of life advocating that discipline is the refining fire through which talent becomes ability.

Dr. Anil Mili, Head in-charge of the Department of Physical Education, RGU attended as the guest of honour.

The gathering also observed one minute of silence as prayer of condolence to pay their respect to the departed soul of Late Taba Tania (Nakam), state’s first class football referee.

In the opening match between 7 Star and Arunachal Warriors which ended in an exciting 2-2 draw, Tampolo Pul of 7 Star was declared the man of the match. In the second match Litum Noshi was adjudged as man of the match where his team FC Maselo Zinu outplayed CR-7 by 3 goals to nil. While in the lopsided 3rd match of the day, the Officers Club RGU was hammered by 10 goals to nil by the wild card entrants Rono Warriors. Bengia Aku of Rono Warriors was the man of the 3rd match.

The league is organized by the Rajiv Gandhi University under the aegis of its Physical Education Department and is being supported by Vivo, Jio, Airtel and NR Stores of Doimukh. To add color to it in professional aspects, the 7 teams with its own local franchises and owners saw biddings of players with a maximum seed money of 2000 each franchise. The minimum base amount of each player was kept at Rs.50. Yowa Takam of the department of Physical Education became the highest paid player purchased for Rs.1500 by Rono Warriors franchise. The league is unique as it gives platform for true professionalism ethics right from playing on the ground and off the ground by the players, dress codes of managers and coaches of the teams to the dedication and commitments of match officials and decorum of the ground and its surrounding. The final of the league will be played on Sunday.
