SOPO, Jun 5:Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Town Planning, Land Management, Nabam Rebia today inaugurated the Relief & Rehabilitation village established under CSR project by NEEPCO for project affected people of Pare Hydel Project (PHEP)  at Sopo under Doimukh Circle today in  the  presence of CMD NEEPCO AG West Kharbongkar, Director (Tech) NEEPCO, DC Papum Pare Tai Kaye among others.

Terming it a historic day, Rebia expressed gratitude to the hydro power developer. While sharing his memories on inception of 110 MW Pare Hydel Project, Rebia said ‘we are emotionally connected to PHEP and it is a dream come true for us that we are today seeing such wonderful development happening in our place.’ He further emphasized that with the commissioning of PHEP the whole demographic set up of the area will change as it will pave the way for development of many more commercial activities  including eco-tourism and other recreational facility which will not only improve living condition of people but will also make them economically self-reliant.         

Responding to the memorandum submitted by VP of Pare People Land Affected Welfare Committee, Tana Tahin to NEEPCO regarding construction of RCC bridge over Pare which will connect Sopo to Lekhi village, the minister assured that GoAP will provide matching share of  fund  for construction of bridge and he also  fervently requested NEEPCO to take up the matter immediately so that bridge can be completed in stipulated time.

 CMD NEEPCO, West Kharbongkar who graced the programme informed that the R & R Village is fully funded by KFW Development Bank, Germany and they were very particular about its construction and to rehabilitate the land affected people of the project. He also requested the people to develop sense of ownership and protect the property to make best use of it. He also informed that NEEPCO is looking forward to commission the PHEP by current financial year.           

Earlier, HoP, PHEP, M Debnath informed the gathering that there are 35 houses in total including medical, schools, church house, play ground , water treatment plant, electricity, conference hall, animal shelters etc  and all houses are constructed as per guidelines of state government in 7.9 hectare of land.
