ITANAGAR, Jan 15:Governor BD Mishra, arrived at Bomdila today on his three-day tour of West Kameng District. On his arrival, the Governor, who is accompanied by the First Lady of the State Smt Neelam Misra, was accorded a warm traditional reception.

Earlier on the Governor and the First Lady were received by the Deputy Commissioner Dr. Sonal Swaroop and Superintendent of Police PN Khrimey at Bhalukpong. Public leaders, government officials were present on the occasion.

Interacting with government officials, Gaon Burahs and public at Bhalukpong, the Governor appealed to them to participate in the development process of the State by ensuring transparency, accountability,  continuity, review and audit and midterm correction.

While stating that for a State to progress, it must have a healthy environment, literate society and empowered womenfolk, the Governor emphasised that every member of society must play their role, particular the fairer gender. He urged the women and girls to come forward and be partners in the development process.

Underscoring that large numbers of tourists come to Arunachal Pradesh to visit Bhalukpong, Bomdila, Dirang, Tawang and other places through Bhalukpong, the Governor said that tourism has huge impact in the socio economic development of the people, area and the State. He advised the local populace to maintain the spirit of ‘Atithi Devo Bhavo’ for overall development of tourism in the State.

Before reaching Bomdila, the Governor had a meeting with the General Officer Commanding 5 Mountain Division Major General RK Jha at Rupa-Gacham Cantonment, 20 km from Bomdila. The GOC briefed the about the initiatives of the Army for the civilian population, including recruitment rally, motivation programmes amongst the children to join Sainik Schools, social outreach programmes and other welfare measures, Ex Servicemen, Vir Nari and medical camps. He also apprised the Governor of few challenges of the Army personnel serving in the State.

At the request of the Governor, the GOC agreed to depute surgical specialists and other specialists of Military Hospital, Tenga to visit Primary Health Centres at least three days a week to address acute shortage of medical specialists in the civilian medical facilities.

On the day of the visit, which also happens to be the Army Day, the Governor addressed the officers and personnel of 5 Mountain Division at Rupa Cantonment, Rupa. He highlighted on the proud history of Indian Army and boosted the morale of the troops.

Sharing his past experiences of the three major wars, the Governor said the foundation of Nation’s strength lies in the dedication and zeal of the personnel.

Complimenting the Indian Army stationed in the State, the Governor assured the officers and personnel to take up the issues raised in the meeting with the GOC. He advised them to further strengthen the civil- army relationship and instil sense of security amongst the civilian population.
