ITANAGAR, Oct 27:Taking serious exception of the “error” by the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission, the All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) on Friday has cautioned that it will go for a district bandh call on November 26 next, if the names of Chakma candidates are not removed immediately from the selection list of upcoming APPSCE Examinations.

Strongly condemning the Commission members for deliberately entertaining the forms submitted by Chakma candidates, it also demanded the State Government revoke the standing order, wherein Chakmas were allotted temporary settlement in 1978 during NEFA period and remove all Chakmas enrolled in the electoral rolls of 14-Doimukh (ST) Assembly Constituency.

Meanwhile to identify the ground realities, a team from All Papum Pare District Students’ Union (APPDSU) on Friday met DC Yupia, Tai Kaye where it emerged that the applicant, Sameer Chakma allegedly filled the examination form based on Supreme Court verdict on granting of citizenship rights to Chakmas & Hajongs in the State while  claiming himself to be ST of Papum Pare district in the examination form without submitting any ST certificate.

The Galo Students Union (GSU) has extended strong support to the AAPSU in its stand taken against inclusion of Chakma refugees in the list of qualified candidates eligible for appearing in prelims exam of APPSC. Demanding immediate removal of names from the list and stringent action against the erring officials, the union also pledged support to the apex students’ body in all its endeavors on the refugee issue.

Green Arunachal Foundation (GAF) has also vehemently condemned the state government and Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission for getting through three Chakma candidates to appear for the upcoming Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive examination.

“It’s no less than cheating the people of Arunachal Pradesh. They should have been rejected in the scrutiny round of their documents”, said GAF Chairman Takam Tatung.

GAF has demanded reshuffling of the commission members for their insensitivity in allowing refugees to appear for the most coveted and esteemed examination of the state.

While expressing a sense of deep concern for the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh, GAF said that the government should have been careful in dealing with the sensitive refugee issue of the state. The state government under Pema Khandu should have been more concerned for the rights of the indigenous people of the state instead of supporting the cause of the refugees for political gains, expressed GAF.
