AALO, Oct 31: The 36-hour bandh called by the Aalo Town Public Welfare &Development Society (ATPWDS) as its second phase of democratic movement seeking immediate renovation of strategic road, passed off peacefully this evening without any untoward incident.

However, the bandh crippled normal life at Aalo, where business establishments, banks and educational institutions remained closed and the streets wore a deserted look with vehicles remaining off the road.

ATPWDS claims that government offices were also not functioning as employees extended their solidarity in their protest against poor roads.

ATPWDS Chairman Kento Ete while addressing a meeting this evening announcement postponement of the  60-hour 3rd phase bandh call from November 7-9 to November 22-24 next to give time to the government to take immediate steps on the burning issue.

Ete appealed the government to find out a logical solution to solve the burning problem before the commencement of 3rd phase of protest cautioning that the organization will intensify its movement till their demand is fulfilled.          He further thanked the people for supporting the movement especially the Galo Students Union (GSU).
