ITANAGAR, Dec 3:  Reacting to the press statement by indigenous faith leaders on the delisting of ST status of those converted to other religions and implementation of Anti-Conversion Law in the state, National Peoples Party’s General Secretary Paknga Bage appealed to the religious leaders to maintain distance from any kind of divisive policy and not to get swayed by external propaganda.
While citing the recent statement by indigenous faith leader urging the government to delist the ST status and implementation of Anti Conversion Law, Bage said  "Every religion follows love, peace and unity; we all should follow these principles instead of creating any confusion among our own brothers. We all should maintain distance from making any statement that may create tension in the peace-loving state."
“Our people are innocent and straightforward, there may be some external forces who want to create disunity amongst the brothers," said Bage while adding that since decades different faith groups are living peacefully in the state but the sudden hullabaloo on religious differences is a great concern for everyone.
While responding to query on NPP’s intervention on the issue, Bage said "Being a national political party with an ideology of ‘Regional Aspiration and National Outlook’, we are always concerned about unity and peaceful co-existence amongst the people and the state especially unity of all the Northeastern states. NPP always takes serious concern of any incident where unity and peace might get swayed by external forces," said the general secretary.
While speaking on Anti-Conversion Law, he stated that the said law is not for any particular community but for everyone. Moreover,  NPP (AP) is ready to have discussion on the issue in the State Assembly.  There is no incident where people are being forcefully converted to any religion but they have accepted as per their wish, which is a fundamental right, he stated.
