ITANAGAR, Oct 17:NHPC Limited, India’s premier hydro power company and a ‘Mini Ratna’ Category-I Enterprise of the Government of India has paid a final dividend of Rs. 76.43 crore to Government of India for the financial year 2016-17 in addition to interim dividend of Rs. 1402.21 crore paid in the month of January, 2017. The aggregate dividend payout share of Government of India for the financial year 2016-17 comes to Rs. 1478.64 crore out of total dividend of 1984.61 crore.

In its 41st Annual General Meeting held on September 27 last, final dividend at the rate of  Rs. 0.10/- per Equity share (i.e. @1%) excluding interim dividend of Rs. 1.70 per equity share i.e. 17% of the face value already paid in January 2017 was approved by members of the Company.

NHPC today has more than 7.60 lakh shareholders and total dividend pay-out for the year 2016-17 including interim dividend worked out to Rs. 1984.61 crore, as against Rs. 1660.61 crore for the financial year 2015-16. The dividend pay-out for the financial year 2016-17 comes to 71% of Profit after Tax (PAT) in comparison to 68% of PAT for the financial year 2015-16. 

NHPC had earned PAT of Rs.2795.59 crore for the financial year 2016-17 as against the previous year’s  corresponding figure of Rs. 2429.89 crore. 

The dividend payout bank advice for an amount of Rs 76.43 crore was presented to Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy, RK Singh, by CMD, NHPC Limited, Balraj Joshi on October 12 last in the presence of Secretary (Power), Govt. of India Ajay Kumar Bhalla and other senior officers of Ministry of Power and NHPC Limited. 

   As regards Dibang Multipurpose Project (2880MW) CEA, CWC, GSI, CSMRS and MoWR (RD & GR) have accorded the Techno  Economic  Clearance (TEC) at an estimated total cost of Rs. 25732.79 crores (July 2016 Price Level).

On the Subansiri front the NGT, Kolkata has pronounced its verdict on October 16 with the direction to MOEF & CC to constitute a committee of three Experts from the field of Seismology, Geology and Hydrology. The committee is required to submit their report within 3 months to EAC for taking  decision.

Apart from the above NHPC is keenly pursuing the Gram Sabha consent from the six balance villages of Tawang-II HEP i.e. Khet, Kungba, Sazo, Hoongla, Kudung & Sakyur. Out of 13 Projects affected villages of Tawang –II HEP, Gram Sabha consent has already been obtained from six villages.
