MALIGAON, Feb 3:
A 72-hour anti-corruption drive in mass contact areas of Northeast Frontier Railway is ongoing on since January 31. The concerned officials and officers of Commercial, Traffic, RPF & Vigilance department have been launching surprise checks at all public interface locations while interactions with rail users have also been conducted.
All five divisions—Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangia, Lumding and Tinsukia have launched an all-out concentrated drive of 72 hours to convey a message to the staff that the Railway would not tolerate any malpractice. Surprise night checks at booking counters, windows, reservation counters, parcel offices, lost and found offices, TTE’s offices and trains have been carried out. Inspections are being carried out through RPF personnel at different locations.
During the drive one staff-member of Katihar division was penalised for overcharging a passenger while another staff-member of Lumding division was put under suspension when found with an excess amount of money in his custody while on duty.
This ongoing 72-hour special drive with the aim of getting rid of malpractices will concluded Saturday night.
As Indian railway has embarked on a zero tolerance policy against corruption, NFR will conduct many such more drives against corruption in public interfaces, a release informed.
