ITANAGAR, Oct 7:

Governor BD Mishra visited North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST), Nirjuli, 20 km from Itanagar on Friday. While visiting the institute, within four days, after assuming the charge of the State, the Governor, who is the ex-officio President of NERIST Society, interacted with the faculty members.

 

The Governor said that NERIST is the pride of North east. It has the noble responsibility of motivating and shaping the youth of the country towards nation building. He wished that faculty and students of the institute strive with avant-garde and achieve recognition in international and national levels.

 

The Governor advised the faculty and management to take necessary action which will be in the interest of the students. He emphasised that they must motivate and ensure that alumni of NERIST are successful in life.

 

If they are inspired, strong, adequately and properly educated and skilled, society will prosper, he added.

 

The Governor suggested for adoption of study exchange programme and other innovative ways to enrich the quality of education in the premier institute. He also suggested for NERIST Alumni organization.

  

The Governor expressed his concern on the issue of encroachment of the campus.

Earlier, the Director in-charge, NERIST Prof Tamo Mibang, Vice Chancellor, Rajiv Gandhi University and RGU Registrar, Dr. RP Bhattacharjee briefed the Governor about the institute.

In his maiden visit to the institute, the Governor also visited a boys’ hostel and interacted with the students.
