TAWANG, Sep 24: After days of intense search operation, the body of missing student identified as Toko Yame (16) was found this afternoon at Biga bridge waterfall near JNV campus Tawang, Police informed.  A student of class XII science at Govt Hr Sec School Tawang, he had gone missing after a group clash broke out on September 16 evening involving students of Government Higher Secondary School Tawang and Jawaharlal Navodya Vidalya(JNV) Tawang. Late Toko had remained untraceable for last eight days following the incident.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Tawang, G. Dajangju informed that the body was found in a semi-decomposed condition.

“We are sending the body to Itanagar, as the district hospital here has no facilities to conduct post mortem on a semi-decomposed body,” said DSP Dajangju.     

Reportedly, suspected accused were granted bail on Saturday. On being asked about foul play involved, DSP stated that it can be ascertained only after the post mortem report. ‘The police will act based on the post mortem reports,’ he said. He further disclosed that the location where the body was found had been searched several times earlier.

Expressing shock at the incident, the aggrieved family is suspecting foul play and claimed that the place where the body was found had been searched several times both by the victim’s relatives and by the district administration.  “The condition of my son’s body clearly hints to a planned murder,” said father Koya Yame.  

“We had searched the location several times but we didn’t find anything. How come the body appeared all of sudden at same place,” questioned the father while demanding CBI inquiry. He further claimed that there are several cut marks on the body but due to the semi-decomposed nature many injury marks are not visible.

The aggrieved father later sought the Governor’s intervention to get justice for his late son and appealed the police department to carry out unbiased investigation.

Aggrieved by the incident, East Kameng Social Welfare and Cultural Organisation (EKSWCO) and All East Kameng District Students Union have deeply condoled the death.

In a press statement, the district parental organisation demanded the authority to investigate the incident thoroughly so that perpetrators are given exemplary punishment. Condoling the loss of a young student life, AEKDSU, strongly condemned the incident and urged the police department to act with utmost sincerity and dedication to punish the culprits involved in the tragic incident.
