NEW DELHI, Oct 13:The 48th Conference of Governors at Rashtrapati Bhavan concluded today. The President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh addressed the concluding session. Important issues of the States and best practices of the Raj Bhavans were discussed and shared respectively on the day.

Speaking on the occasion, Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, BD Mishra called for a composite package for infrastructure development along the borders.

He said that Arunachal Pradesh is a border State with vast area sharing boundary with Bhutan, China and Myanmar. There is an urgent need to focus on development of socio-economic infrastructure in the border villages. People of these villages serve a vital purpose of keeping the border intact, he added.

While drawing attention to internal security problems in the eastern part of the State, the Governor emphasized on the need for more focus on developmental activities in the marked disturbed areas. To shun away the dual menace of opium consumption and induction of unemployed youth in insurgent groups, there is a requirement of a comprehensive package for development of the three districts of Tirap, Changlang and Longding.

Underscoring the lack of private jobs in the State, which is a huge challenge for youth, the Governor called for setting up of Entrepreneurship Development Centres in each district of the State to facilitate ‘Start Ups’.

Stating that Arunachal Pradesh is the only State Capital which is not on the Air route map of India, the Governor called for ensuring effective air connectivity in the State at the earliest. He also stressed on operationalization of the Advanced Landing Grounds (ALG) under UDAN scheme.

In his speech, the Governor emphasized on the mobile and internet connectivity in the State. He said that all the schemes pertaining to financial inclusion, digital India and Aadhar convergence are lagging behind due to poor mobile and internet connectivity.

The Governor also stressed on meaningfully tapping of spiritual tourism potential of the State and scientific methods in dealing with natural disaster.

The Governor shared the best practices of the Raj Bhavan, Itanagar. He spoke on Fellowship link Schools, emotional and national integration home stay, changing to LED and solar power plants, etc.
