ITANAGAR, Oct 28:

NEFA Indigenous Human Rights Organization (NIHRO), the oldest human rights body of the state today convened a meeting to discuss various issues pertaining to violation of rights of the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh.

“NIHRO aims to spread awareness and strengthen socio-economic and political rights of the indigenous populace of Arunachal Pradesh. The organization has discussed and debated and has decided to connect with all the NGOs, civil societies, press houses and likeminded individuals in order to upkeep the indigenous rights of the people of our state.”, said NIHRO President  Domin Loya.

There are numerous civil societies and rights groups in Arunachal Pradesh. But we have not been able to work in a proper manner because of lack of connectivity and trust. Therefore, we want to connect with all in order to achieve our objectives, the President opined. He urged the state based civil societies, unions and other bodies to join hands in the venture for a better workforce.

The President informed that NIHRO today formed an interim executive committee for proper functioning of the organization. All the members unanimously decided that Domin Loya, Tarh Atung, Japon Lowang, Jelly Neri, Biru Nasi, and Reken  Ingo will function as the President, Vice President, General Secretary, Secretary, Convener and Office Secretary respectively. The executive body of the organization will be expanded in the next meeting, informed Loya.
