PAGA TARA (Itanagar), May 18:

Music is the best medium to strengthen relations beyond any barriers by linking hearts, said former chief minister Nabam Tuki before declaring the maiden Papum Pare Music Festival here open on Thursday.

The event began in the lap of nature here this afternoon about 5 km away from the state capital.

This is a platform to encourage the youths to showcase their talents but the festival involving famous musicians of NE region would serve as a link between peoples of all NE states, he said with conviction.

"Music, an indivisible part of life, is sung right from temple to church, mosque to gurudwara, festival to functions, village to city, encompassing a vast industry. This vast field offers a very remunerative career globally, but the indigenous Arunachalee tribes with their unique cultures and traditions could herald a new music culture", Tuki said without mincing words.

Such platform known for exchanging and sharing feelings besides showcasing talents should be encouraged by one and all, said M\s T K Consortium director Techi Tara, speaking as guest of honour. More such events should be conducted, he said and announced support of PWD SE Rotu Techi who could not attend the festival because of his ill health.

UPPY's Kholi Tahi sought the support of the gathering to promote the festival aimed at projecting Arunachal Pradesh in right perspective to the outside visitors.

The event, an endeavour of United Papum Pare Youth (UPPY), with Arunachal Observer as media partner, would see performance of USA-based international DJ; Russian singer; first MTV rock on winner Nagaland-based Divine Communication; Guwahati-based Rain in Sahara; Sikkim's Arogya besides many noted state singers.

People made a beeline to 12 food stalls set up for the event to relish local cuisines as one after another melodious numbers rant the air.
