RUMGONG, Oct 21: In the absence of a proper road, villagers of Yogong, under Rumgong circle of Siang District were forced to carry the body of one of their own and trekked at least 25 Km  to reach the village.
The deceased late Takiam Tatin, a native of Yogong was serving as JE (civil) with the Border Roads Organisation, Kinnaur District in Himachal Pradesh, and expired on duty on October 13 last.  The BRO helped the family members to transport the body from Himachal to  Rumgong, however, due to absence of road, villagers were forced to carry the body on their shoulders.
Sharing the hurdles being faced by the villagers, Tanyup Taggu, a resident of Yogong village said that due to the absence of road communication, villagers face many problems particularly in medical and other emergency situations.  Besides road communication, the village also lacks proper water connectivity, electricity, telephone network, schools and other basic amenities.
“In this era of digital India, we are still struggling for our survival and living life as in primitive age," lamented Taggu. He appealed to the state government to immediately look into the hardship being faced by the villagers.
Former ASM, Yogong, Takyag Taggu stated that due to the absence of communication in all aspects, villagers have to face many hardships. “We are not Chinese, Tibetans or refugees, but we are Indians and Arunachalee, so development should reach us," he lamented while adding that the people who have been living here for several generations are bereft of basic amenities.
