While speaking to media, common people who were on the streets to meet the Home Minister voiced that such closed meeting with few representatives is not justified.

‘Meeting should be held at open place with the public and our one-point demand is capital punishment to the culprit who raped a 5 year old girl,’ said a local.

Peace Committee Yingkiong also submitted a memorandum to the Home Minister demanding, accused  Holbi  Sema to be brought back to the Yingkiong Police station, suspension of then Superintendent of Police and Officer In-charge, compensation to the victim family among others.

In Tezu, a similar meeting was held comprising CBOs and the victim’s family members on the whole episode. Earlier, Waii along with local MLA Mahesh Chai, Minister Alo Libang and DGP Goel and other concern officials also visited the Police station Tezu.

While speaking to the family of the five year old victim, Waii assured to extend all possible help.

Meanwhile, speaking to the media, the Home Minister informed that peace meeting in two districts headquarters was the need of the hour. Condemning the rape incidents in the strongest terms, Waii opined that ‘awarding punishment to the culprits is in the hands of the court but we will make sure that strongest case would be registered as per the laid down norms against the culprit.’
