ITANAGAR, Jan 16: Governor BD Mishra called upon the District Heads of Departments to ensure that all the development projects and welfare programmes are implemented in letter and spirit within a time frame.

Interacting with District Heads of Departments of West Kameng District at Bomdila today, the Governor said that the government officials are the vehicle for multi-sphere development. He emphasized that they must ensure absolute transparency, accountability, continuity, review and audit and midterm correction in implementation of all programmes and projects.

These will guarantee that benefits of any initiative of the Central and State Governments reaches to the targeted population, he said.

The Governor, who is on a three-day tour of West Kameng District said that there is no shortage of fund from Centre for NE States, including Arunachal Pradesh. Giving a laudable new acronym for the eight North Eastern States, ‘ASTAM-NMM’, the first five letters of the acronym represent the States of Arunachal, Sikkim, Tripura, Assam and Meghalaya on Northern cardinal point and Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram on the Eastern cardinal point, which phonetically be pronounced as ‘astam namam’, meaning ‘Salute to the great eight’, the Governor said that the Union Government under the dynamic leadership of Shri Narendra Modi is giving special focus to the eight North East States.

Carrying the message of Swachh Bharat, the Governor appealed to the officials to take lead in keeping the district, clean, healthy and plastic free. Sharing his experiences in the State Capital under the theme, ‘Hamara Elan Swachhta aur Nari Utthan’ the Governor said that to realize the Swachh Bharat, they have to have change in mindset.

Reiterating the importance of tourism for the socio-economic development of the State, the Governor appealed to the people through the government officials to promote the spirit of ‘Atithi Devo Bhavo’ amongst the local populace.

Stating that connectivity and communication are important for the State to progress, the Governor asked the officials to prevail upon the people and tell them that exuberant land compensation for road and other infrastructure has become a bottleneck for development.

Reflecting his concern about health and education of the people, the Governor visited the District Hospital, Bomdila and Government College, Bomdila. During the visit, he interacted with medical officers and patients and lecturers and students respectively. He advised the Principal and lecturers of the college to motivate the students to join armed forces and strengthen the NCC in the college.

In the District Hospital, the Governor inaugurated a two-day Swasthya Parikshan Camp conducted under North East Plan of CCRS, Ministry of Ayush. He also visited various wards, including ’Jan Aushadhi’. Along with First Lady of the State Smt Neelam Misra, the Governor distributed fruits to the indoor patients. 

Later, the Governor accompanied by First Lady of the State visited the Craft Centre, Bomdila and paid obeisance GRL Monastery.
