TEZU, Oct 27:Setting some serious health goals for all are three cyclists from Germany on an expedition of Eastern Arunachal Pradesh at the fag end of their tour of India.

‘Adventure is our way of life and we love travelling, exploring new places, ethnicity, belief and customs,’ says Mike.

All three cyclists, Verena, Frank including Mike are in their 50s and have traversed the enchanting terrains of Arunachal in search of adventure.

 ‘Our cycling expedition was flagged off from Germany under ‘Indien Erfahren’ last year to promote usefulness of adventure cycling predominantly in India and rest of the world. We have toured almost every pocket of India and this is our last leg of the expedition. It is so refreshing to be in the mountains, where we can breathe clean air. The people here are hospitable and simple in nature then the mainland,’ says Frank.
Verena the lone woman in the team spoke about the importance of cycling. ‘Despite being grandparents, we enjoy cycling. The hills and mountains add much ecstasy and joy which everyone should try,’ she says.

The cyclist landed at Mohanbari airport (Dibrugarh) and travelled to Tipam Fakey village in Assam then to Enthong & Deban in Changlang,  Wakro, Tezu in Lohit to Roing in Lower Dibang Valley and lastly to Anini in Dibang Valley district.   

 ‘I offered them my modern home but they refused and stayed at my abandoned traditional hut. Their fondness made me realise the importance of our vanishing culture,’ says host Khulasi Chai opining that there is much scope for ecotourism in the state.
