ITANAGAR, Oct 10:Green Arunachal Foundation (GAF) today appreciated and extended support to the All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union’s stand seeking a clear-cut legislation against granting citizenship rights to the Chakma-Hajong refugees and rollback of Tibetan Rehabilitation Policy (TRP) during the upcoming legislative assembly session.

Stating that interests of the indigenous people must be a pivotal issue of the government under Chief Minister Pema Khandu, GAF Chairman, also suggested the apex students’ body not to wither from the 4-point resolution taken up on September 16 last.

“AAPSU must not forget the resolution adopted on the 16th of September, 2017 at Papunallah during its meet with the former executive members/leaders of the apex students’ body,” said Tatung.

GAF also questioned the state government’s decision for planning a two-week leadership enhancement tour to London for legislators of Arunachal Pradesh on October 27 next.

“The expenditure incurred for the said tour would be in crores of rupees. Instead of draining crores from the peoples’ money/state exchequer on irrelevant tours and travel of legislators, it would be more relevant if the state government concentrate on timely payments of stipend to students, regular payments of SSA teachers, containing the degrading law and order situation of the state et al,” he opined.

The GAF Chairman also put forth the fact that Arunachal Pradesh has lost a lot in almost every sphere due to the political imbroglio. Therefore, whatever is left, must be used judiciously and meaningfully.
