ITANAGAR, Nov 9: After the state-wide 3-day mass casual leave failed to evoke any reaction from the government, the All Arunachal Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers Association (AASSATA) has threatened to resort to a 6-day pen down strike from November 20 next to press for their demands.

The decision comes close at the heels of the mass casual leave from November 6-8 last which failed to yield any result.

SSA teachers have been demanding for batch wise regularization (one batch in one DPC) and enhancement of salaries at par with regular teachers as per the recommendations of 7th Central Pay Commission.

Addressing reporters at press club today, President AASSATA, Tarak Agung Tarh claimed that despite three days of agitation in all DDSE offices of the district headquarters, no official attempt was made by the authority to hear the grievances of the  teachers.

‘The elected representatives have time to celebrate and enjoy their evening in the name of inauguration of offices etc but sadly none of them care about the grievances of SSA teachers,’ he said.

The association has threatened to go for indefinite strike if the government fails to make a positive move within the upcoming pen down strike.

‘We are not demanding extra or which is beyond the reach of the state government but only an enhancement in the existing 10% of the state share,’ Tarh added.

‘Since 2010 -11, the salary of SSA teachers has not been increased,’ he lamented.

Meanwhile, claiming the order issued by Secretary Education (In-charge) J Angu terming the three day stir as illegal, President AASSATA urged for rollback of the decision.
