ITANAGAR, Dec 15: Siang District headquarters Settlement Committee (SDHSC) has appealed to the state government to review its decision to shift the Siang district headquarters from Pangin to  Boleng.
Addressing  the reporters at the press club here today, Chairman SDHSC Tayu Jerang said the high power committee members under Satya Gopal Committee and others involved in finalizing Boleng as district headquarters were misdirected. The notified area is not as per the original agreement made between the state government and the land donors, Jerang said.
“The  present proposed site has no future scope of infrastructure extension as from one end there is the mighty Siang river with no mode of communication and the rest of the forest area is unexplored. Therefore looking into the future scope of town planning and expansion, the state government should work on establishing district headquarters at Pangin, stated the Chairman.
Supporting his claim, Jerang said Pangin is centrally located with a well connected national highway from Pasighat, Aalo and Upper Subansiri. In addition, the public of Pangin have already donated 1926 hectare of land, which is in authority of the state government. "The land donated is purely community land and there is no legal issue unlike Boleng. Moreover, there is an existing road as well as many unused buildings which can be used, minimizing extra cost,” he said.
On March 8, 2018 a cabinet meeting was held under the chairmanship of CM Pema Khandu, in presence of cabinet ministers and chief secretary Satya Gopal where it was decided for the establishment of district headquarters at Boleng.
