ITANAGAR, Dec 18: All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union today served an ultimatum to the state government demanding to continue the Census of Chakma-Hajong settled in Arunachal Pradesh terming it as a routine process.
Addressing a press conference, General Secretary,AAPSU, Tobom Dai claimed that census process of Chakma and Hajong refugees has been halted by the government after a letter was served to the state government from the Prime Minister of India's Office.
“Government of Arunachal Pradesh should promptly reply to Prime Minister's Office informing them it’s a normal administrative exercise and at the same time enumeration process of Chakma and Hajong should continue,” said Dai.
It is reported on 7th December 2021, Prime Minister's Office sought a response from the state government on "racial profiling” as alleged by the Chakma Development Foundation of India (CDFI) Chairman Suhas Chakma.
“Under any circumstances, the state government should not succumb to the pressure from malicious forces like Chakma Development Foundation of India (CDFI),” Dai added expressing his apprehension that the government may halt the process of enumeration of Chakma and Hajong refugees after receiving letter from PMO. Dai further argued that enumeration of Chakma and Hajong refugees is not a racial profiling as alleged by CDFI rather a regular administrative exercise to maintain the exact data of refugees living in Arunachal Pradesh for the safeguard of indigenous people.

AAPSU also expressed its resentment at the Deputy Commissioner Changlang Devansh Yadav for backtracking from his earlier statement to continue the census.
The Union further questioned the state government on status of Assam-Arunachal boundary dispute issue.  AAPSU wants clarity on the status of Assam-Arunachal boundary issue. Within seven days the government should tell the status to Assam-Arunachal boundary issue, the general secretary said.
The four months given by the ‘High Power Committee’ to resolve the boundary issue through ‘Out of Court Settlement' is still in the shelf. The prolonging boundary dispute may further worsen the situation along Assam-Arunachal boundary, asserted Dai.
