ITANAGAR, Nov 18: Political will alone is not enough for successfully undertaking development initiatives and bureaucratic will is equally important as it is the bridge between the government and the public, said Minister Bamang Felix.
Home Minister Bamang Felix, who also holds the Parliamentary Affairs portfolio was speaking to 54 APCS probationers as he inaugurated the two-day training programme for the Arunachal Pradesh Civil Services (APCS) Probationer 2020 Batch on ‘Legislative Practices and Functioning' at the Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Secretariat today.
Speaking at the inaugural event, Felix called upon the probationers to inculcate a habit of introspecting their work, office ethics, and contribution to society as an officer and to improve wherever required.
Stating that an officer’s vision and target should only be the welfare of the people, he said "An officer who does not justify their position as a civil servant has no moral authority to occupy a responsible chair."
He also advised the probationers to establish healthy communication with the public at their respective posting places to learn about the issues and challenges they encounter. He further suggested they capitalised on the potential of community-based organisations in moulding society into a better one.
Meanwhile, he advised the probationers against pursuing places of their choice for posting and instead consider the entire 83,743 square kilometres of the state as their workplace in a pan-Arunachal spirit.
He further appealed to the officers to contribute their bit towards the conservation of the environment and wildlife. The Minister suggested quitting the consumption of bushmeat as a step in that direction while opining that once people stop consuming bushmeat, hunting wild animals by people will also decrease.
Secretary (in-charge) Tadar Meena, Joint Secretary Agaab Mossang, OSD to Speaker, D K Singh, were present at the inaugural event.
