ITANAGAR, May 1:Hundreds of volunteers of Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti (AVYS) thronged RKM Hospital here today to donate blood voluntarily that yielded 72 units of blood to overcome blood crisis in RKMH & Tomo Riba State Hospital.

    Of the total 103 registered,  31 were disqualified after medical test and 72 including 16 girls donated blood, including many umpteen times - Ramesh Jeke (42), Tarng Dakme (18), Hillang Barot (17), Libi Nguri (16), Mole Mangfi (15), Takpi Game (9),  Amum Bagang (8), Nani Tungi, Guchi Yana and Mago Lendo (5 times each).

    The camp was conducted jointly by AVYS in collaboration with RKMH-SBTC medical teams at the initiative of AVYS founder Ramesh Jeke and adviser Pradeep Kumar that coincided with 24th birth anniversary of founder-member-cum first general secretary Lenin Tungi. The NHPC pitched in support.

   "God has developed blood, impossible for science to make, well aware the human beings will get deviated from human values and ultimately blood only would unite them irrespective of caste, creed, religion and region one day," Jeke said to the applause of  the gathering.

   "Arunachal is not my state but home, thus if the home develops my society will develop," he said, adding today's camp was conducted with voluntary contributions by AVYS members.

The AVYS, formed on 26.11.08 and collected 47,556 blood units so far through 58 camps, that had won  national award of excellence in voluntary blood donation for the GoAP to win, justifying  'service to men is service to god', he said.

   NHPC director Ronel Kumar, serving in the state since last 17 years, in his address,  lauded AVYS, particularly Jeke for the humanitarian service.

The present negative trend - Arunachal goes to Delhi with a begging bowl - would be reversed when the state taps its huge hydropower potentials, (58,000-MW), he said with conviction.

     Arunachalees are unique whose circle of relation covers the globe was proved today  with their willing participation in the camp, AVYS adviser Pradeep Kumar said, and lauded NHPC for its support and commitment to support such future endeavours.

     SBTC deputy director Dr Nabam Budh and RKMH blood bank officer DR L R Chaudhury earlier paid floral tributes to Tungi and exhorted the volunteers to maintain their spirit to serve humanity which would be their lifelong asset and help when need the most.

   Tungi was born this day and left for heavenly abode on 31.05.15. He had uncanny relation with May as he was  born, joined AVYS and died in the same month, Jeke said, and recalled that instead of pursing engineering outside selected in JEE pursed BA (English) in DNGC to continue  to serve the humanity.
