ITANAGAR, Dec 23: The All Arunachal Pradesh Contractual Nursing Officers Association (AAPCNOA) on Thursday demanded the state government to create a minimum of 530 regular posts for National Health Mission (NHM) Nursing Officers as its first phase and also pressed for salary hike.
The Association said that for the last seven years, the state government has not created post for regularization of NHM Nursing Officers, adding that the last post created was in the year 2014.
Addressing media persons at the press club, General Secretary Premlata Dubey said “Despite 24X7 services, we are treated as though we do not deserve good salary, regular job and payment."
The Association said there is huge shortage of nursing officers in the state. During Covid-19 pandemic last year, the final year B.Sc nursing students were hired to attend to patients due to shortage of nurses.
"The state government is using contractual nurses as substitute completely depending on NHM nursing officers who are in contractual job, paid low and irregularly," Dubey said.
The state is being run by only 599 regular nursing officers which is equivalent to 25 percent of the total requirement. Whereas, as per the ratio of scientific calculation by Directorate of Health Services required number of nursing officer is 1806.
