ITANAGAR, Jan 5: In the wake of the sudden surge of new Covid-19 variant ‘Omicron’ in the country, the Department of Health has alerted District Medical Officers (DMO) to take all preventive measures. Rapid Response Teams have been advised to properly monitor individuals in home isolation.
This was informed by the Secretary Health & Family Welfare, P Parthiban while speaking to the media here on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, Arunachal reported a sudden spike in new Covid-19 infections with 23 cases. This has been the highest in several weeks which saw cases in single digits or zero.
Responding to query, Secretary Health added that, meeting with all the DMOs was held today in view  of the spike in Covid cases in the country.  
"In the last few months, we have recorded low cases in the state, however, we are not taking any chances and have activated the more than 70 Rapid Response Teams along with  Testing Centers, Flu Clinics, and also took stock of the COVID wards, testing kits, and Oxygen plants.To prevent any spread, we have TruNat machines in almost every district and also ordered more testing Kits," he said while adding that all the Rapid Response Teams have been advised to properly monitor individuals in home isolation.
Expressing concern over the Omicron variant, Parthiban asserted that the state is ready to take any measure to prevent the new variant.
" We have already witnessed the first and second waves of the COVID-19 where at least 230 people have lost their lives in the state."
 He further appealed to all the denizens to follow the COVID -19 protocols to prevent infection.

Covid cases continue to surge in Arunachal

ITANAGAR: Covid cases continued to surge for the second day today with 32 cases reported in the state. 
Maximum 16 cases were reported from the capital complex out of a total sample of 212 pushing the infectivity rate to 7.5%. Lohit saw 6 cases while Namsai and West Kameng reported  3 cases each. East Siang and West Siang reported 1 case each.
