ITANAGAR, Sep 27:

Quashing allegations leveled by few organizations demanding the government not to allow establishment of proposed mega herbal garden by Patanjali Ayurved Limited at Seijosa under Pakke-Kessang in East Kameng district, the wife of former deputy chief minister, Maya Dolo defended the move citing that the project if set-up would immensely benefit locals in terms of job opportunities and tourism.

Addressing a press conference this afternoon at press club, Maya Dolo claimed that without any substantive proof, few organizations are opposing the mega project and demanding immediate cancellation of the garden development activities being carried out at Seijosa.

Dolo who has given the land on lease to Patanjali for the next 99 years, claimed that she had valid land possession certificate (LPC) and she has not taken even an inch of land from the people.

“These organizations have no right to put unnecessary allegations on others without having any substantial evidence. If they have proof they must speak to me first to substantiate their claims as I am the rightful owner of the land,” she added.

Rebutting allegations that the said land falls under the forest reserve, Dolo informed that the Government of India in the year 1964 had allotted the land for the settlement of Sikh Regiment of the Army along with the villages of Seijosa.

“The notification issued by government itself is proof and gives a clear picture that the area does not fall under the forest reserve,” she added.

She also clarified that the garden would promote afforestation instead of deforestation as it is an eco-friendly project which will not destroy flora and fauna of the area.

Over the allegations of not possessing a valid and proper LPC of the said plot, Dolo said that a total of 4800 hectares of land is in her name and her family members as well as the ones gifted to her by others have valid LPCs.

‘These organizations do not know the value of the project, which will be beneficial for everyone living in the area and will give employment opportunities to youths, develop education and health sector with tourism,’ she asserted.
