ITANAGAR, Feb 6:

 

The chief of Adi Baane Kebang (ABK), Kangir Jamoh passed away on Tuesday night following prolonged illness at Guwahati. He was in the ICU of the Hayat hospital, Guwahati for the past five days after his condition deteriorated. He breathed his last around 8.30 pmthis evening.

 

Jamoh was born and brought up in Komkar village, under Upper Siang district and graduated from Jawaharlal Nehru College (JNC), Pasighat.  Later he cracked the APCS examination and served as Circle officer (CO) in various places in the 90s.

 

He later resigned from government service in 1999 and joined the state Bharatiya Janata Party, as  president. During his tenure as president, ABK, late Jamoh brought many reformations in Adi society.   Under his leadership, the Adi’s sacred building, Doying Gumin hall was constructed.  He is survived by his wife, three sons and a daughter.

 

His mortal remains will be brought back to ABK headquarters Pasighat for the public to pay their last respects and the last rites will be performed the next day at his residence at Chimpu, Itanagar.

 

In a condolence message, the ABK East Siang Unit, general secretary, Tajing Taki termed his demise as an irreparable loss to the Adi community and state as a whole.

 

“Late Jamoh was a skilled and dynamic political leader who served the state and Adi community with full spirit and dedication. On behalf of the people of Pasighat and the entire Adi community, I extend my deepest condolences to the aggrieved family members,” he added.
