ITANAGAR, Mar 8: Keeping in view the ensuing budget session, the apex student body AAPSU has submitted a representation to the Chief Minister with suggestion to be included in the ensuing budget specifically on Education & Health sector.
AAPSU in its representation stated that, a state wide “Education & Health 2017-18” Survey was launched by the Union during the month of September last year. The idea behind this survey was to get the actual data as well as assessment of the Educational & Health institutions across the state. This survey involved members from the AAPSU & DSU’s visiting every educational & Health institutions physically and assessing the shortages as well as problems faced by them.
Referring to their assessment during the survey, the apex student body asserted that, at least 2500 subject teachers are required, especially for maths and science, Only 20% schools have library and laboratory,40% schools do not have sanitation facilities, Insufficient desks and benches, Insufficient and irregular supply of books to govt. Schools, 48% schools do not have boundary walls, 80% schools do not possess LPC, Most of the Primary schools have single teacher for one school, 53% schools do not have drinking water supply and 80% schools do not have computer facility, upgraded General Hospitals are performing worse and are in bad shape.
On the basis of their assessment, AAPSU suggested the government for one time grant for overall renovation of existing Health & Educational institutes in the State, One time budgetary allocation for full fledged establishment of Arunachal University, Pasighat, Regular allocation of funds for Textbooks, Special provision for covering the LPC & Land allotment charges, Closure of all the non-functional Schools and immediate sanctioning of all the upgraded schools etc.
