ITANAGAR, Oct 12: In what could be termed an unprecedented political move along religious line, the BJP MLAs belonging to the Buddhist community organised a dinner  meeting at New Delhi to work out an alternate plan amidst mounting  public outcry of mismanagement, misappropriation and misgovernance under Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
The said dinner meeting took place somewhere in Lutyens Delhi on September 14 last after majority of the MLAs flew out of Guwahati a day earlier.
"Sensing imminent political leadership crisis, the MLAs belonging to Mahayana sect (Tawang and West Kameng ) took the flight to New Delhi on September 13," informed a highly placed source and added, this group organised a dinner meeting which was attended by CM Pema Khandu and Speaker of AP Legislative Assembly, Pasang Dorjee Sona.
Source informed that this dinner meeting of the said MLAs materialised after several rounds of discussions and consultations held in Itanagar amongst the Buddhist MLAs wherein it was decided that CMship must remain within the Buddhist community and in case of eventuality, PD Sona should step-up as the  potential sucessor to Khandu.
It is learnt that Dy CM Chowna Mein expressed his reservation against such political move along  religious divide  and skipped the Delhi trip.
"There is a BJP within BJP which doesn't subscribe to the vision and ideology of the founding fathers of the saffron party. Sangh workers say that such nefarious activities of old Congress leaders who joined BJP from People's Party of Arunachal (PPA)  in 2016 was reported in many of the " Samanvay Baithaks" of the Sangh and its affiliated organisations," Source said.
The saffron party workers reportedly expressed dissatisfaction  over the working of Pema Khandu when Department of Indigenous Affairs (DIA) was created instead of Department of Indigenous Faith and Culture Affairs (DIFCA) and levelled allegation on Khandu of  acting against the common interest  of the indigenous faith movement.
The saffron party in the state is a divided house between Buddhists and Bhagwas, the source added.
