Itanagar, Aug 28 : The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) has stepped up pressure on the state’s recruiting agencies, demanding immediate and strict implementation of the newly notified uniform eligibility criteria for government recruitment.
Addressing a press conference in Itanagar on Friday, AAPSU President Meje Taku said the organisation will closely monitor the implementation of the government’s August 26 notification, which makes PRC, APST certificate and knowledge of an Indigenous Tribal Language mandatory for direct recruitment to Group A, B and C posts.
Taku said AAPSU has already met the head of  both the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) and the Arunachal Pradesh Staff Selection Board (APSSB), asking them to incorporate the new eligibility provisions in all future and pending recruitment advertisements.
The student body maintained that the government notification is the outcome of a long-standing demand of AAPSU aimed at protecting the interests of indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh.
AAPSU particularly demanded that recruitment notifications should clearly mention the three mandatory eligibility requirements and that there should be no selective application, delay or dilution of the provisions.
In his statement, Meje said that AAPSU has also sought implementation of the post-joining Indigenous Tribal Language test mechanism, as provided under the new framework.
The Union warned that it would closely scrutinise upcoming recruitment advertisements issued by both recruiting agencies. Any attempt to bypass or dilute the newly notified criteria, it said, would invite strong resistance from the student community.
“We will not compromise on these hard-won protections,” the AAPSU President  said in its communication, warning of intensified democratic agitation in case of non-compliance.
Meanwhile, AAPSU  also warned government official who hold multiple jobs to resign and opt for only one job.
