ITANAGAR, Oct 12: Concerned over exorbitant security and rental fee being charged by landlords specially in the capital complex, the All Arunachal Pradesh Abotani Students Union (AAPATSU) urged the concerned authority to regulate charges.
Speaking to mediapersons, President Women Wing, AAPATSU Dopi Lomi, informed that the union has been receiving numerous grievances from students and the public regarding exorbitant security and rental charges by landlords.
"Due to high security fees and rental the public has to face many problems. So we urge the District Administration Itanagar Capital Region (ICR) to look into the issue.  There are framed rules that rent and security should be charged as per the availability of the basic facilities in the rented house. We are not against anybody but there should be some balance so that students as well as unemployed youths can bear the charges," she said.
Stating that many youths take the wrong path to pay the rent and security fees, Lomi further appealed to the landlords not to distinguish people in the name of caste, creed or tribe while giving rooms on rent.
Vice President Bengia Sinia while speaking on the recent APPSC paper leak, stated  that the union appreciates the state government’s decision to recommend CBI probe into the scam. However, the union also urged the government to investigate the whole episode from 2016-17 till date.He also urged the authority to cancel all the interviews conducted in 2022.
Meanwhile, he also reiterated that the Union seeks clarification on its memorandum submitted  regarding the suspension of  Non-APST being elected as Gram Panchayat members in Namsai district.
