YINGKIONG, Aug 4: A training programme on weaving and handloom for rural artisans of Tuting, Geling and Jengging blocks, sponsored under Border Area Development Programme (BADP), commenced at the office of Assistant Director Textiles & Handicrafts, Yingkiong today.
Inaugurating the programme, additional deputy commissioner Adong Pertin exhorted all trainees to take full advantage of the programme and then apply the knowledge gained in practical life.
He pointed out that the skill development training could become best sources of knowledge from where one can learn many things to uplift their socio-economic condition.
ADTH Gindu Tayeng highlighted the aims and objectives of the training programme and informed that the trainers will be imparted knowledge on latest weaving style using the available resources at the centre.
Tayeng also called for patenting the local designs to provide exclusivity to the designs and advised that the local traditional design be encouraged for its originality.
DPO Talut Tatak laid emphasis on promotion of entrepreneurship among rural women and urged all trainees to attend every session of the training without fail.
