AALO, Dec 6: The West Siang Students Union organised an education tour cum interaction programme under the Chairmanship of Bili Gamlin and Vice-Chairman Moge Ete in the 1st Phase at Tato, Monigong, Mechuka, 2nd Phase at Kamba, Darak, Yomcha, Liromoba and 3rd Phase at Aalo area from November 28 to December 1.
The main objective of the programme was to meet with the students and faculty members of all the government schools in the district, listen to the grievances and hardships faced by them and also to see if proper care has been taken in maintaining the basic requirement of the students like health and hygiene, books, infrastructure, teaching staff, etc. 
The programme helped to create awareness among general public as well as the concerned administration about the poor and degrading condition of government schools in rural areas due to which students are facing a lot of difficulties and are also losing interest in studies.
The team of students observed that infrastructure are not up to the required level and maintenance is voluntarily done without any help from the government in many schools, problem of boundary wall, shortage of teachers in Science, Maths and Economics, lack of toilet facilities for girls in few schools and many more issues that need redressal were found during their four-day long whirlwind visit to those schools.
