Itanagar, Dec 16: The Defence Estates Organisation, Itanagar Circle, Arunachal Pradesh, has been awarded the Raksha Mantri Award for Excellence – 2025 in recognition of its exemplary service, professional dedication, and significant contributions to defence land management and record administration. This is the first time that a region from the North-Eastern states has received this prestigious national honour.
The award was presented by Rajnath Singh, Raksha Mantri, at the Raksha Mantri Awards for Excellence – 2025 held in New Delhi. The award was received by Gokul Mahajan, Defence Estates Officer, Itanagar Circle, on behalf of the organisation.
The recognition highlights the Circle’s notable achievements, including the acquisition of over 500 acres of land, regularisation of legacy land acquisition cases, and efficient hiring and management of defence land across nearly 50 land pockets. The organisation has also demonstrated effective handling of defence land-related litigation at various judicial levels, including lower courts, High Courts, and the Supreme Court of India.
These accomplishments reflect the organisation’s strong administrative capability, commitment to good governance, and sustained efforts towards strengthening defence land management in a strategically important region of the country.
