ITANAGAR, Sep 13: Octogenarian Takhe Cheda, the second public interpreter (PI) from Pipu Circle in East Kameng district, passed away on Tuesday at the age of 81 due to prolonged illness, family sources said.
He was 81 at the time of his demise and left behind his wife, three sons and seven daughters besides several grand children.
Known for his leadership acumen, he was first appointed as chowkidar on June 20, 1966 at Pipu and later appointed as PI on June 16, 1967 at Chanyangtajo. He retired on June 20, 2001 from his post.
He was credited for bringing an end to the infighting between villages and contributed a lot for socio economic development of his area. He worked tirelessly for the upliftment of education among unprivileged sections of society.
An orphan by birth, Takhe Cheda set an example for others by rising to the highest position in society.
Meanwhile, the Gyadom Welfare Society and Pipu Gawepurang Social Organisation (PGSO) mourned the sudden demise of the Takhe Cheda and prayed almighty for eternal peace of the departed soul.
