ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Save Arunachal Save Indigenous (SASI) has demanded status report on their three point representation submitted to the state government, while threating to launch a series of democratic movement on failure to respond to its demand within a month.
SASI earlier in a representation submitted to the state government demanded the constitutional amendment to bring Arunachal Pradesh under the provision of Article 371 (H) to Article 371 (G) and 371 (A), amendment of existing ILP and de-reservation of all the forest areas affecting human settlement.
Addressing media persons at the press club here today, Chairman SASI Romjir Raksap said that the organization had submitted its demands which is yet to be addressed despite the passage of two years. If the state government fails to provide status report within a month, the organization will resort to democratic movement, he said.
SASI on Friday submitted a reminder letter on the demands to CM Pema Khandu. It also demanded the formation of an all-party committee at the earliest and act upon the demand so that the matter is placed with majority to the central government.
He said following the matter raised by senior Congress MLA Ninong Ering on the de-reservation of forests, CM assured to form a ‘high power committee’ consisting of selective elected representatives including some organizations in order to look into the matter for an early solution.
“However, our hopes and patience has been tested for years. There is no response by the state government in bringing the state under the provision of Article 371 (H) to safeguard its indigenous people and land,” he said.
SASI demanded a status report of the initiative taken by the state government in regard to the de-reservation of all the forest areas affecting the settlement of indigenous people.
“Has the government collected reports from respective District Deputy Commissioners as directed and when is the state government going to approach the Supreme Court for the de-reservation of the forest?"  he said.
Speaking on the demand for amendment of ILP, he said that the government should ensure the usage of new technology to check illegal entry of workers and visitors in the state.
“To do so, there should be a bar code system in the new ILP system, proper surveillance at the entry gates, fake ILP scanner, contact number of the cardholder to be attached in the ILP, and strict action against officials issuing fake ILP, etc,” he added.
