Shillong, Sep 4 : The North Eastern Council (NEC) has completed transformative projects across Arunachal Pradesh valued at ₹82.41 crore under the Scheme of NEC (SoNEC) and NESIDS–Roads, while simultaneously releasing nearly 15 crore to nourish connectivity, healing, learning, sustainable agriculture, and linguistic heritage during July-August this year.
A comprehensive upgradation of the 40-bedded Hospital at Likabali in Lower Siang District was completed at an approved outlay of 14.38 crore. Outfitted with advanced maternity and labour-care wards, a modern modular operation theatre, comprehensive emergency and diagnostic equipment, and a dedicated blood bank, this facility saves lives locally and frees remote populations from grueling journeys for specialised care.
On 11 August 2026, the Council marked the formal closure of the Construction of Boys and Girls Hostel at Roing, Dibang Valley, sanctioned at 5.17 crore, sheltering youthful educational aspirations close to home.
Delivering targeted public services, comprehensive community works were completed across the Hunli–Desali Block in Lower Dibang Valley (sanctioned at 4.74 crore) and the Taliha CD Block in Upper Subansiri District (sanctioned at 4.95 crore). In Tirap District, the Development of Tissa View Point near Tissa Camp ( 1.80 crore) was successfully closed, elevating local eco-tourism potential.
In West Siang District, a 200-hectare bamboo plantation across jhum and fallow lands in the Hikam and Muro areas of Tadin village was completed on 16 July 2026 at a cost of 2.19 crore, offering sustainable, wage-earning alternatives to shifting cultivation.
While Nacho Circle saw the successful fruition of the Orange and Cardamom Plantation Project at Keojoring and Rava villages (approved cost: 1.98 crore).
The newly completed road link connecting Kodum Circle seamlessly ties West Siang, Lepa Rada, Siang, and Shi Yomi districts, unlocking regional commerce and benefiting more than 1.12 lakh citizens, was another landmark achieved by the NEC among several others.
