ITANAGAR, Aug 5: The All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) took serious note of the proposed meeting at Deomali between NSCN/GPRN-IM and Ministry of Home Affairs on August 9 in Tirap district.
In a memorandum submitted to Chief Minister Pema Khandu at Tawang today, AAPSU said that without taking into confidence and pre-consent of indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh to hold the meeting at Deomali is a well enacted and pre-mediated attempt on NSCN (IM) part to create confusion on the purported peace talk framework and sabotage peace in the state.
It also said that the content of the Indo-Naga Peace talk framework agreement which was signed on August 3, 2015 is still shrouded in mystery and yet to be made public to all the stakeholders.
Welcoming the peace talks between Government of India and NSCN/GPRN-IM, the student body said this should not be at the cost of territorial and administrative integrity of the state. The news emanating from unconfirmed sources to create an administrative set up encompassing on the principle “State within state” ceding to the demand of Greater Nagalim in a different context by the government of India is unacceptable to the people of the state, it added.
The AAPSU also called upon the Central government to expedite the process of deleting any other Naga Tribe suffix in the Scheduled Tribe certificates issued to many tribes of Tirap, Changlang, Longding, viz. Wancho, Nocte and Tangsa tribes. NSCN-IM, the AAPSU said, has taken advantage of the Constitutional lapse which adopted the Naga tribe suffix given by the Birtish government without verification. The student body asked the NSCN/GPRN to stop subjugation of these tribes and committing atrocities on the innocent villagers of the three districts of Arunachal Pradesh.
Since last two decades it is an open secret that the Naga elements have committed many atrocities as well as unleashed violence in these three districts.
The Central government despite having full knowledge of the ground realities remained indifferent and maintained a stoic silence all along and allowed flourishing of unabated extortion and violence in the three districts, it added.
