ITANAGAR, Aug 7: General Manger, NABARD, Regional office, Itanagar Dr. Gyanendra Mani on tuesday appealed to the state government to consider availing financial support under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund and Dairy Processing Fund (DPF) to create suitable infrastructure which can support the livestock sector to grow at a decent rate in the state.
Underscoring the need to promote livestock based FPOs on a cluster basis in the state for developing the dairy and animal husbandry sector, Mani reiterated the importance of these sectors in boosting the livelihood pattern of rural population.
He also stressed on the need to ensure implementation of the DEDS and NLM schemes in a transparent way so that recovery of loan is ensured. He was speaking at the one-day state level Sensitization Workshop on ‘Dairy Entrepreneurship Development Scheme’ (DEDS) organized under aegis of NABARD on Monday.
In his address, Bidol Tayeng, Secretary, Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development, emphasized on the need for doubling of farmers’ income by 2022 and observed that the dairy sector can play important role in achieving the feat.
Informing that state government has also approved sufficient budget allocations for development of dairy sector for this financial year, Tayeng sought collective effort from NABARD, Banks and Government Departments in streamlining the guidelines to make the scheme a success in the state. He stressed the need for joint monitoring of DEDS beneficiaries by State govt. officials, Banks and NABARD.
A power point presentation on DEDS was made by NABARD, RO wherein new features of the scheme was discussed in details and the methodology of online submission of subsidy claims. Dr. Migo Riba, MD, IDDP gave a power point presentation on White Revolution Scheme which is being implemented during the current financial year in the state.
