ITANAGAR, Aug 12: Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act 1978 would not be repealed but reviewed properly, said Chief Minister Pema Khandu while attending the inaugural ceremony of Nyishi Indigenous Art & Culture Hall here today.
While addressing the gathering, Khandu added ‘The 40-year old Act has no proper rules to put into effect, as it was orphaned after introducing it in 1978. The Act needs to be reviewed properly so that it will benefit all the religions of the state,'
He further said that Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act neither favors any religion nor is against any other religion. “We are clear and transparent, so before taking any action we will definitely take calls from representatives of every religion,” the CM said.
He also urged the young generation to carry forward the legacy of their own indigenous tradition and culture.
